Where I live

People keep asking me questions about the Covid epidemic. I live in a social housing building in Toronto with an interesting mix of residents. It is in a favourable neighbourhood in central Toronto which has not suffered the social stratification which has gone on in much the rest of the city in the past 20 years.

People walk around the neighbourhood and talk with each other. At least, people who have lived here awhile and loosened up a bit do. There is a mix of social classes and ethnicities which generally coexist well. Here people do not generally call the cops on their neighbours for being too this or that while sitting on a park bench.

People follow social distancing rules pretty well. We have some people who over react to the pandemic and some who under react. Some people are still wearing masks outside when there is really no reason. Others are not wearing them where it is still a pretty good idea to do so, like on elevators.

In my building, residents haven’t really settled on an etiquette for elevators. Sometimes there gets to be a line up if one of them is out of service. The management still posts signs mandating one party per elevator but it is not really feasible.
